I love Red Velvet Cake. And I make a pretty good one myself (stay tuned), but the best I've ever had comes from Doughboys Bakery, formerly of two LA locations. Tragically, the restaurant no longer physically exists, but you can still order their Red Velvet of the gods, click the title to do so. Pricey, but so worth it. Oh, and Oprah says this is her fav RVC too, so you know I must be telling the truth.
